Don’t get caught out by new changes to the Qantas Frequent flyer program. From February 20 onward passengers are now required to use up to 25 per cent more points for seat upgrades.
Changes to the program apply to upgrades on all Qantas flights in all classes. However, upgrading from the cheapest economy seat on an international flight will set you back the most. It has been reported that, for example, jetsetters will require an extra 24,000 points to upgrade from sale economy to business class on a Sydney to London route.
Travellers are advised to check with Qantas or their Travel Expert before upgrading to avoid disappointment.
Passengers wanting to maximise their frequent flyer points to compensate for these changes can still earn additional points through Deliveroo orders and Airbnb bookings. Qantas are also offering sign-up bonuses for their Frequent Flyer credit card.
