What do you love about working at 1000 Mile?
It has to be the flexibility. I feel so excited to be part of a reasonably new company which embraces a fantastic work/life balance.
What made you decide to jump into the travel industry and why?
I have always loved travelling and helping people, so it just made sense.
What is your favourite travel memory?
I have so many, but I think it’s all the amazing people I have met travelling that stands out the most. I have been lucky enough to live in a few different countries and make life long friends in every place.
What has been your most challenging travel memory?
In India on day 3 I came down with “Delhi belly’ and that was the day of the first night train we had to take. As I tried to settle in to my very basic train cabin (while feeling very sorry for myself) a mouse ran over my bag! I just remember feeling very far from home and very sick, I think a couple of tears were possibly shed.
What’s your favourite airline to travel with and why?
I have two – Air New Zealand and Emirates. With Air New Zealand I feel like I’m already back home in NZ and just love the clever safety videos. With Emirates I love the A380 business and first class cabins. I’ve been lucky enough to fly a few times with Emirates in business and I didn’t want the journey to end.
What’s your favourite travel perk working as a travel agent?
The upgrades in hotels would be my main one – I’ve been very lucky in the past.
What’s next on your travel bucket list?
Italy. I have never been but I’ve always wanted to go! I feel like I must be the only travel agent in the world who never has visited there!!! I just have to wait until my daughter is a little older (toddlers and long haul travel scare me).
